Universities Now Taking 2023 Applications

As many prospective university students know, submitting your application is the first crucial step toward possible admission. However, doing it punctually is just as important, so here are the universities closing their 2023 applications in September.

Universities

South Africa has 26 public Universities, with some opening their 2023 applications in March and some closing in July.

Universities which will be closing applications on 30 September are:

  • Wits University
  • University of Limpopo
  • Mangosuthu University of Technology
  • Nelson Mandela University
  • North-West University
  • University of Kwazulu-Natal
  • University of the Western Cape
  • Tshwane University of Technology
  • University of Venda
  • Vaal University of Technology
  • Central University of Technology
  • Durban University of Technology

This means that out of the 26 public Universities, 12 will be closing at the end of this month. The University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University have closed their 2023 applications.

As for the rest of the Universities, here are their closing dates.

  • Unisa: 14 October
  • Rhodes University: 30 November
  • University of Fort Hare: 30 November
  • University of Zululand: 31 October
  • Sol Plaatje University: 30 November
  • University of Johannesburg: 30 October
  • University of Mpumalanga: 30 November
  • University of the Free State: 15 January
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology: 30 November
  • Walter Sisulu University: 30 November

We haven't yet mentioned the University of Pretoria (UP). This is because UP has no set closing date for applications for non-selection programmes for 2023 and it's instead based on available space. The university closed all applications for selection programmes on 30 June 2022.
