SEO and the Smartest Solutions You Should Arrange for

SEO and the Smartest Solutions

It is a fact that visitors who search for specific content usually only look at the first page of Google search results. These results only look at the first three results. It is also a reality that visitors use Google for searches, but this concept applies to almost every search engine. If your website is on the 15th page of search results, what will you get, and what will you do?

Here comes SEO or search engine optimization. It is the process of increasing your website rank in different ways. You use various techniques to rank your website higher in search of results through organic methods. You do it through related Backlinks and effective keywords. You do it through on-page optimization or off-page optimization. Seo is an effective way to increase traffic to your website. It will inevitably result in more sales and lead generation. Do you want an expert SEO service, SEO Auckland serves the best.

Ideal visitors

There are websites for almost every business, and millions of websites are registered. People rely heavily on search engines to find what they need. If they don't get the required result on the first page, they adjust their search and start a new search until they find what they need. However, an individual rarely goes to the second page.

If people search for what you are offering and see your website, they will go to your website for details.

The site ranked on the first page is considered, and the visitor finds you. These are ideal visitors who may become your clients. They may become your subscribers, customers, and clients. If your website does not become visible on the first page, it doesn't exist. This may be explained as your business is not visible, and you have no sales.

Site position and page rank

Your website position is due to page rank. Your website ranks for particular keywords and searches terms. Search engines track all the search terms on your page through trackers. It is an organic method. The search engine ranks your words according to keyword proximity. If you are searching for New York clothes, the search engine will index all the web pages; where are these words? If your site contains these words more often will get more exposure and top other websites.

There are two factors for ranking criteria.

One is Backlinks, and the other is keywords. If another website has referred to your page or you have Backlinks from high authority websites, your website will surely rank highest. The number and quality of links are vital in ranking your website higher.

Keywords

Keywords allow Google to see your website and gain insight into the related niche. Backlinks make your website trusted by Google, and keywords give an idea about relevancy. These factors determine your website's position in search engines.

There are two components of SEO.

Onsite SEO and off-site SEO. These two components work in harmony to move your site to the top. In the section, you change your webpage content to optimize it. You use relevant keywords and proper Meta tags for the purpose. Off-site SEO involves Backlinks from other websites or social media. You may share your site link to social media channels or refer to websites on blog forums and other sites. The authenticity of the website may give you more exposure. The legitimacy of the referring website is also essential.

Growing your business through SEO

If you correctly optimize your website, you may increase your business. You may get more visitors and grab ideal visitors. You need not run expensive ads. You will get more bucks than newspaper television ads; this is precious for small businesses.

Top 5 things to do for your SEO

There are obviously many things that you can do to for search engine optimisation (SEO) but which should you focus on? Your time is valuable, so I list the top 5 things you should do to maximize your time. In other words, why spend four hours on something when you can spend an hour on a task that should return 100 more value? Enough chatter, let’s get on the list:

Write fresh content consistently!

I’ve mentioned this in several previous posts, most recently at Blog about your niche. Nothing is more important than providing real value on your blog regularly. So write, write, write. Set a goal for every other day or every weekday, or every day. Just make sure you post helpful information related to the theme of your blog a few times a week at a minimum. If your blog is about puppies, keep writing about puppies and skip the rant on politics.

Make your titles relevant.

Having good, catchy titles are great. Good, catchy titles with keywords related to your post is even better. So if your post is about losing weight, instead of “Shedding your unwanted fat” you could go with “Shedding the extra weight: lose 10 pounds in a month safely”.

Use keywords in your content.

Don’t go crazy with this and scatter keywords unnecessarily (you will actually be penalised for that) but make sure you have some keywords in the body of your post. Imagine if I never actually wrote the words “search engine optimisation” in this post, which is precisely what the job is about.

Have a logical site structure.

This is pretty automatic if you use a good blogging platform (e.g. blogger or wordpress.com). However, if you are using custom themes or running your own blog on a separate host, that may change things a bit. Just make sure that your blog structure is organised, so your directories and pages are easy to understand.

Use Google Analytics.

It’s arguably the most useful analytical tool for your blog, and it’s absolutely free! There’s no reason not to use Google Analytics. You can learn about where your visitors are from geographically, how long they are staying, what your traffic is this week compared to last week, how many other posts they are looking at, and much more. One important thing to monitor is which keywords are bringing them to your site. You could just continue to utilize those keywords in future posts to improve your ranking for that niche.

None of this is groundbreaking.

In fact, you should do these things for your readers anyway, not just for SEO purposes. Even though search engine algorithms change constantly, the things mentioned above have always been part of the core. It doesn’t mean you don’t need to do anything else either, but if you only have time for five things, do these. Backlinks, keywords in the URL, tags/categories, directories, social networking, microblogging, and other tactics will come in due time. Happy blogging!

Anchor text is important for SEO

important for SEO

Ah, anchor text…so essential yet so misunderstood. Anchor text is merely another phrase for the label text for your link. Unknown to many bloggers, these words actually affect how search engines perceive the link’s value. In fact, it’s well-known in SEO expert circles that anchor text is the top one or two factors that determine how you rank.

Often times, bloggers make anchor text mistakes without even knowing it. This comes into play the most when creating their own backlinks or pingbacks/trackbacks. Here’s an example:

Creating their own backlinks

I’m about to share a way to build your own backlinks. Unlike many of the tools available, some free and some way too expensive, this method allows you to be completely independent.
  • 1. Go to blogger.com and create an account if you don’t already have one. Although there are many places to start your own blog site, the blogger is one of the best free offerings available.
  • 2. From your blogger dashboard, click Create a Blog. You will be asked for a blog title and a blog address. To create a backlink blog site, it doesn’t really matter what you choose here.
  • 3. Choose a template. You can always edit it later but again, for our purpose, this is really irrelevant.
  • 4. Click New Post and just type the following two things: (1) name of your post/article and (2) link to your post/article. It should look something like 7 Reason Why having a blog is like having a girlfriend
  • (this will be the anchor text that will be a live link that points to https://www.skillsdonation.com/2018/09/7-reason-why-having-blog-is-like-having.html)
  • 5. Moving forward, every time you create a new post or article, add to this post.

Simple, right? It literally takes less than a second to do. Again, there are other methods of creating backlinks but, especially for people starting out, there’s little reason not to create their own page that they have total control of.
Bad anchor text:

To learn more about what to do for your SEO,

Good anchor text: The former is vague and would have no value to search engines while the latter is relevant and should improve search engine rankings.

In a nutshell, here’s how it works. If there were 1000 sites that all had anchor text about improving traffic, all leading to my Top 5 Things post, then the article would move up in ranking. Of course, there are other variables, but this part is easy to do. You’re creating a link anyway, so you might as well make it meaningful to improve the relevance of the destination, whether it’s your own backlink or someone else’s site.

Makes you want to go back and fix all those lousy anchor texts used in your old posts, doesn’t it

Who’s afraid of outbound links?

outbound links
Source: https://pixabay.com/en/sky-sea-tee-shirt-link-girl-woman-122701/

We all know the importance of inbound links (aka backlinks) but what about outbound links? First, let’s start with what an outbound link is. All we’re talking about here is a link that goes from your blog to another site. Yes, an external link. Oooooh…scary stuff.

Let’s run through some of the common reasons why bloggers don’t like to have outbound links.

  • Outbound links take people away from their site
  • The more outbound links there are, the less link juice other outbound links on their site get
  • Outbound links don’t help their SEO

Those are very valid reasons. But that’s an extremist’s point of view. As long as you can find a middle ground, outbound links can help your blog grow. Let’s revisit the concerns mentioned above and demystify them a bit.

Outbound links take people away from their site

That’s true but if your goal is to provide real value on your site, wouldn’t it make sense to point your visitors to another expert when it makes sense to do so? You can still be the authority on your topic, but I’m sure there are many opportunities where there are valuable resources related to your post that you could link to. Besides, people are savvier than ever these days, and you won’t be able to hold your visitors hostage anyway. You might as well provide them with a level of convenience that keeps them happy and coming back.

The more outbound links there are, the less link juice other outbound links their site get

OK, there’s this thing called Google PageRank that we have to worry about. If your site has said, a Google PageRank 6, you get a certain amount of link juice, which gets divided evenly amongst all your outbound links. First of all, how many bloggers even have more than a PageRank 2? Here’s the deal, if you link to real sites with beneficial information, you’re doing what’s best for your website. You can’t worry about how much link juice each one is getting. If you are PageRank 0, no one is getting anything anyway. And if you are PageRank 6, not only will people still like you, they will likely also pay you to get their link on your site. See? No one gets upset at all!

Outbound links don’t help their SEO

You can make a case that outbound links do help SEO. By having outbound links to sites with content that is related to yours, Google looks at you as a potential peer in that network. The more appropriate links you have, the more valuable Google sees you in that arena. Moreover, indirectly, these links should create some reciprocal links as well. That means when you link to others; there’s a chance that they link back. Reciprocal links and inbound links are almost always a good thing.

Lead Generation and the Future of Search: Real Time

What is Real-Time Search?

Most of us are familiar with search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask. Search engines sparked a revolution in organizing massive amounts of data, which has grown exponentially over the last decade. In the never-ending goal of providing the most relevant search results, Google released the Caffeine version of its search engine, which allows sorting results by images, blogs, news, and more.
Lead Generation

But still, there’s so much information out there that any given person is trying to find. And that information could be precious. For example, what if I want to know who’s mentioning “commercial electrical work in Long Island, NY” right now. Not a week ago, not yesterday, not even in an hour ago, but right this minute. Almost like filtering all the conversations going on globally and finding who’s interested in what services I offer. What if scoring a commercial electrical contract could average $20,000 in profits to me. These could be great leads if I could find people talking about commercial electrical work in my service area. Real-time search is a definite problem that needs solving.

Real-Time User Interaction

Digg.com and related sites provide a form of real-time search. These sites, though, are based on direct user interaction rather than computer programs and algorithms. These sites work because the more users who read or “like” a news story, article, blog, or video, the more relevant that article becomes. If your content gets “liked” enough, you can get listed on the home page of Digg.com, and LOTS of eyes will see your content. However, this process still relies on user interaction. What if you don’t agree with the users? Or what if your niche is small enough that it won’t capture enough attention for Digg.com to see it? Here’s a search in Digg.com on “commercial electrical work long island NY” to follow our example.

Digg.com - Commercial Electrical Long Island NY Search

The results are about commercial electrical for the most part, but there are no good leads that I could use to track down business. These are all articles or stories, not real time user content. These types of real-time sites are valuable for what they do, but as a lead generation tool, they are not very useful.

Don’t make these simple SEO mistakes

How many of you think you’re doing an adequate job of SEO? I’m guessing about half of you said yes. However, even if you’re in that group, I’d bet there are tasks that you’re performing that are either wasting your time or even worse, damaging your long-term SEO goals!
Because so many of us are self-taught SEO implementers (let’s face it, very few of us have worked as SEO professionals), we obtained our search engine optimization education by reading online articles from the so-called “experts” and through personal trial and error.

From a professional level, I’ve moved on to other things. Still, my experience working as an SEO strategist over ten years ago has given me a foundation that will never change. No matter how much SEO has evolved over the years, there’s a deep-rooted core that will always stay the same.

So, let’s take a look at these common SEO mistakes. Some of you may know already, but there might be a few you’re doing that you should probably consider stopping (or, in some cases, undoing)!

5 SEO mistakes to avoid

  • Backlinks from unrelated content – We all know that having quality backlinks is a great way to tell search engines what kind of site we are. The PageRank boost doesn’t hurt either. That said, if your backlinks come from pages that have nothing to do with your content, you will be hurting yourself.
  • Backlinks from wrong sources – Not all backlinks are created equal, and in some cases, they may earn you the dreaded ‘blacklist’ label. Don’t try to cheat the system by exchanging backlinks with just anyone. And I would also recommend against buying backlinks.
  • Backlinks with over-indulgent anchor text –Backlinks to your site with the same anchor text over and over will raise a red flag. Besides, no matter how hard you try, using a niche anchor text like “SEO” won’t help you at this rate. Switch it up and use other keywords in your anchor text to describe your site’s content.
  • Keyword stuffing – You know what this is. If you’ve taken keywords and phrases at an OCD level, knock it off! Your short-term gains will earn you long-term SERP penalties. It’s OK to use the proper keywords readably and even work in an occasional sub-niche keyword, but please don’t overdo it. When in doubt, it’s easy – just think about your reader.
  • Over-formatting – I’m a big fan of using bold and italics (please try to refrain from underlines altogether since they can be confused with links), but only use them when it makes sense to highlight the appropriate words. Keep these to a minimum to so that when you actually format your text, they really stand out.

Bear in mind that not doing these does not mean your site is search engine optimized well. However, it will keep you on par with others not committing this SEO faux pas. I guess not doing something terrible can be viewed as valuable, right?

How typical of these mistakes have you made, currently or in the past?

4 Quick things to consider when doing SEO

doing SEO

While it is without a doubt that search engine optimisation will continue to hold less and less real significance in the online world, many people will continue to pursue this method of web promotion because of the explosive surge of traffic it is usually associated with.

Whether you’re employing an SEO professional (for the record – a good chunk of them are liars ) or doing it yourself, there are a few common mistakes which have the potential to untie your efforts. Henceforth my dear readers, here are five basic, but surprisingly commonly overlooked aspects of SEO (in no particular order).

1. Your keywords

When I say practical, I’m not talking about choosing something highly searched for and extremely competitive. The cold, hard truth is you will find it overwhelmingly difficult to compete for terms with a mountain of competitors. I highly recommend using Keyword to basically scope out just how competitive a keyword is. Use the Google keyword tool to create a list of keywords, before sending them to the Adwords Traffic Estimator and then finally exporting and opening them in Keyword Corral. As a rule of thumb (although this obviously varies from person to person), I’d recommend you target keywords with less than 8,000 competitors.

2. Keyword Density

Another simple yet commonly overlooked factor is the density of keywords. According to the much beloved Wikipedia;

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words. In the context of search engine optimization, keyword density can be used to determine whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

In essence, it is the foundation of on-page optimization and, therefore, plays a pivotal role in your mission to conquer the first page of Google. Many people realize this, and perhaps need to do more to do this. They end up writing pages for Google instead of their site visitors by turning perfectively readable sentences into repetitive messes. It’s really not too hard to fall into this trap. It is therefore absolutely imperative to strike a balance between implementing your keywords into your content, while also ensuring your content remains engaging and more importantly, comprehensible.

3. Your web host

Where your website is hosted plays a much larger role in search engine optimization than you may think. What amazes me about so many SEO ’specialists’ (not bagging out the whole industry of course) is that they seem to continuously overlook this. The fact is that search engines take into consideration certain factors when deciding on your rank and the efficiency of your server or lack thereof can seriously affect your rank. Why? Because a consistently unavailable website may be de-indexed by the search engines if it is offline when crawled. Furthermore, sites with poor uptime receive a lower Google Trust Rank, an algorithm Google developed to determine search engine placement. To top this off, because of how easy it is to enter the web hosting market – the amount of shady and poor quality hosts currently roaming the internet is at an all-time high. You need to carefully research your web hosting options before making any commitments. This leads me to my next point.

4. Your website IP address

Another thing that is often overlooked as trivial is the class of your website’s IP address. Your websites may be judged based on your IP address and could receive a lower ranking if your IP is grouped in a location with some other sites that are not too righteous. While your website may be totally legit, if it is grouped with other not so well ranked sites because it happens to be in the same place, that may lower your rank as well. In addition, the server you choose may assign you to a shared IP address, which could yield the same result, wherein the persons that you share with may come into some bad lighting and this will affect your website as well. The fact is IP addresses are often banned because the website administrators are not following the rules and regulations set forth by the search engines and you may find that your website has become a part of that list even if you were not wrong. A dedicated IP address is, therefore, an absolute necessity.

5 Link building tips to increase your search engine rankings

Links control the web. Relationships are the basis of search engine rankings; more links equal more traffic.

I have observed that link building is one of the most solid Search Engine Optimisation factors that are not always easy to game due to the work it takes to get them. It is also important to note that the authority of a link matters even more than the quantity.

Below are 5 solid link building tips to significantly increase your search engine rankings.

1. Directory Submission

Directory links are among the most natural links a webmaster can get. Although many webmasters say directory links are no longer useful, I have personally used only directory links to increase search engine traffic and even Google PageRank 3 for a website I maintain.

Submitting your website to high-quality directories will help you increase your site's search engine rank and authority. It is also essential to know that you might not see instant results, but directory links are one of the best and most comfortable types of relationships you can get. Search engines don’t easily rank websites because lots of people try to spam the search engines, so it takes weeks and sometimes months to rank sites.

2. Article Marketing

Using article marketing to get backlinks to your blog or website is a little bit tedious but if correctly used can bring about excellent results.

You must write great high quality, keyword-targeted articles because this helps other webmasters using article directories as their article source to easily find your items. If your article has the right keywords, they will quickly see you, and if your article is good enough, they will use your material on their blog, eventually increasing your backlinks. Using anchor text keywords at least once in your article and even in your author bio is also essential. Using your anchor text will also help you get additional backlinks because some webmasters will just scrape your material without giving you credit but your backlink in the middle of the article will still be there.

3. Press Releases:

Using Press releases is an effective way of getting links to your website. If appropriately written, press releases can go viral; there have been cases of press releases being picked up by news websites, which means more traffic and backlinks for you.

When writing press releases, it is essential to make sure they are newsworthy and compelling. Try submitting them to press release websites and as many editors as possible.

4. Contests:

Website contests are excellent ways to get backlinks to your website or blog. Depending on how they are done, games can be an effective way to get traffic to your blog. Some people prefer to do their contests through Twitter, but to get backlinks, you will have to tell all your participants to write about your game and link back to your blog, which means you get more backlinks. When holding contests, giving out great prizes is essential because this will make people join your battle.

5. Social Bookmarks:

Social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Reddit, and StumbleUpon can be an excellent way to get backlinks to your blog; they also make it fast and easy for search engines to index your blog. Try as much as possible to submit your blog and always provide your latest posts to top social bookmarking sites; if done correctly, your job can go viral, thereby leading to thousands of visitors to your blog on a single day but if your post does not go viral, that single link you get has a long way to help your website.

It is also important to use tags when submitting your posts to social bookmarking sites. Some tag pages on social bookmarking sites have PageRank, which in turn flows to your website.

Links control the web; leaving link building out of your website/blog’s schedule can hurt you in the long run. The above are 5 great ways to get quality, long-lasting backlinks to your website or blog.

5 Reasons why Javascript can be a threat to your SEO blog

your SEO blog

JavaScript is one of the most common web technologies, and many sites use it to offer enhanced functionality. However, JavaScript isn’t all that good. In fact, for many sites, including your SEO blog, the use of JavaScript could be a bit of a threat. If you are using WordPress or any other PHP CMS, JavaScript can be dangerous and cause a lot of trouble.

JavaScript and WordPress?!

JavaScript can be used on many sites, including sites written in PHP. Usually, you can’t embed JavaScript directly in your WordPress blog because of compatibility issues, but with the help of containers of a different kind, you can do it.

The integration of JavaScript and WordPress isn’t always the most trouble-free. JavaScript can be embedded in your WordPress SEO blog, but you need to be careful so that it doesn’t cause functionality and performance issues.

Why JavaScript Could Impact Your SEO Blog Negatively

When you ask an SEO expert about JavaScript, he or she will probably tell you that JavaScript is an SEO disaster. While it isn’t exactly so, JavaScript does have some adverse effects on your SEO blog. For instance:
  1. Spiders hate JavaScript. The most devastating effect JavaScript can have on your blog is regarding SEO ranking. The improper use of JavaScript can negatively affect your search engine rankings. If your JavaScript is not spiderable, then the text inside is lost for search engines. This disadvantage of JavaScript is enough to make you think whether you really need this JavaScript functionality or not.
  2. Performance downgrade. JavaScript can slow a site down. If you are hosting your blog with the right WordPress hosting, then it is less likely to experience performance downgrades, but still, when you use JavaScript, you should expect that this will load the servers and your WordPress installation and as a result, performance might be downgraded.
  3. Security issues. JavaScript could pose security issues in addition to a performance downgrade. Again, with the right WordPress hosting, when adequate measures are taken, even if security issues stemming from your use of JavaScript, the damage will be minimal.
  4. Platform limitations. Relying on JavaScript for basic functionality isn’t a good idea because no matter how popular JavaScript is – JavaScript comes installed by default in almost any browser under practically any platform but don’t bet your life on it. Here are many cases when JavaScript can’t be used, and this is why these users won’t be able to access the functionality. For instance, mobile devices commonly either have no JavaScript support at all or come with basic JavaScript support.
  5. User bans. Even if your users' browser supports JavaScript, it still doesn’t mean that they will use it. While on some browsers, JavaScript is enabled by default, on others, it isn’t, and if your users don’t let it explicitly, they won’t be able to use it. This means that if you have content inside JavaScript, it will become inaccessible to everybody who doesn’t use JavaScript.

These 5 reasons why JavaScript can be a threat to your SEO blog are pretty severe. Still, nobody says that it’s a horrible thing to use JavaScript as long as you use it wisely. If you know how to deal with the wrong sides of JavaScript and don’t rely heavily on it, then JavaScript won’t be that much of a problem for your SEO blog. Just remember not to use JavaScript for everything you can think of because this will undoubtedly lead to problems.

3 Super quick lesson in SEO

quick lesson in SEO

SEO, also known as Search engine optimization, is now a significant factor that any successful webmaster must not overlook. The following SEO tips will help you better understand SEO and use it for your website.

1. Content:

It is essential to have good content on your website to retain your current visitors and to make them bring more visitors. If you are not ready to write quality content or provide value to your readers, the SEO is not for you.

2. Meta Tags:

We earlier talked about quality content which is the human food, since we are talking about SEO we will also be talking about the search engine food which is the meta tags. The meta tags include the Website/page title, the keywords, and the description. It is essential not to overlook a website's meta tags because they influence a website's rankings to an extent. Good practice for optimizing your meta tags is listed below:
  • i. Include your desired keyword in the title at least once as this will improve your chance of ranking for that particular keyword, e.g. Websites A and B have the same amount of backlinks, they both have quality content with the same keyword density, and they are all in the same niche, let’s say hotel. Website A title is “Get best Hotel deals Here” while website B title is “Visit our website for more info”: You will discover that website A will come out first when a keyword related to Hotel is being searched for in the search engines, website A will also be more appealing to human beings.
  • ii. Write a convincing description because this will be shown to your “to be” visitors who are trying to get to you through a search engine: keyword stuffing will not do well in this.
  • iii. Use your desired keywords in the meta keywords.

3. Link Building:

If you have quality content and your meta tags have been highly optimized for the search engines, you need to focus the rest of your efforts on link building. The following are best practices:
  • i. Let your link building be as relevant as possible, i.e. only collect links for a political website from a political site.
  • ii. Let your link building be as consistent as possible, i.e. don’t post today only and forget posting tomorrow.
  • iii. Use anchor texts often and use variations of them.
  • iv. Dofollow is good, but try to also gather some nofollow because it makes your link-building natural in the eyes of the search engines.
  • v. Try as much as possible to deep link to all your posts and not only to the home page because if your homepage keyword brings ten visitors a day and other pages bring 2 if you have 20 pages, your visitors becomes 40 instead of 10 if you had not deep linked. With all the above done accordingly, I congratulate you, and I say happy rankings.

  2. SEO Part 2- Social Media Optimization (SMO) - Step by Step
  3. SEO Part 3 - Link Building [Step by step]

Link building is a critical factor in SEO; I call it the backbone of SEO. Link building is the second most crucial factor in SEO (out of over 300) search engines consider; even though the content is king, you can dominate the search engines with just a sentence on your website if your link building is done correctly.

SOME FACTS TO CONSIDER:

  1. Link building is the second most crucial factor in SEO
  2. Quality matters, not Quantity
  3. Link building, if not correctly done, can get your website penalized: some people say no to this (usually blackhats who are experts in doing this), but I can assure you this is the absolute truth with a capital YES.

If you decide not to invest your time(or money) into building links to your website, then I can assure you that you are digging your SEO grave because there are so many SEO (search engine optimizers) better than me. You: This means they will continually optimize their website(both on-page and off-page), they have the best titles, their meta tags are put in place, and there is no indexing problem with their website: so you now see your need for building links(SEO PART 3).

Quality matters, not Quantity:

Consider this; if your president recommends you or a thousand friends (who are in no position of power) recommend you, who do you think will matter most (I won't answer that for you).

Getting a link from a PageRank 7 site is better than getting 1000 links from different PageRank 1 sites because a link from a PageRank 7 site will make your site a PageRank 6 site, while 1000 links from a PageRank 1 site will make your website a PageRank 4 or 5(hope you see the difference).

NOTE: I am not saying you should only be looking for high PageRank sites because this will cripple your SEO efforts; a PageRank 7 link to your website will give you PageRank 6 but cannot show you the search engine rank 1000 PageRank 1 sites will provide you with: in a short form, let's say your website is on page 10 for a specific keyword, 1 PageRank 7 link will take it to page 5 or 4 while 1000 PageRank 1 links will keep it on page 1 number 1 for a very long time(hope you see the difference). Also, it is to have links to your sites from some particular sites such as .edu, .gov and .mil sites because Google and some other search engines consider these sites as an authority.

Blog commenting is also another way to gain relevant backlinks to your site; it is essential not to spam the blogs because all spam posts will eventually be deleted. An excellent way to utilize blog commenting is by entering your website in the website field because this will automatically give your site a backlink which might eventually lead to a PageRank (who knows).

Also, it is vital to know that link building, if not correctly done, can get a website penalized (not banned, as some say), so it is better to take your time with your link building.

The following is a good practice to consider:

  1. Only post up to 50 links to your website daily as a starter.
  2. Make sure your link building is consistent, i.e. if you will build 50 links a day, make sure it is consistent (50 links every day)
  3. Use your anchor text effectively, i.e., only sometimes use the exact text; use different text to make your link-building natural.
  4. Deep linking is critical, i.e., don't link to your homepage but also to other relevant pages on your website.

With all the above appropriately done, I congratulate you on your better rankings.

If you love this article, I would highly appreciate you linking to it from your website.

SEO Part 2- Social Media Optimization (SMO) - Step by Step

Social Media Optimization

As we said earlier, content is king, and for your site to rank well, all factors in SEO PART 1- ON PAGE FACTORS must be considered.

Quick Link

Social Media Optimization is a significant factor to be considered when preparing your Website for higher rankings. This is where sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, Furl,  Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and other social bookmarking sites come into play. Also, video sites such as YouTube and Vimeo are significant.

Getting your article to the first page (homepage) on Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit etc. It will give you tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of visitors to your Website. Also, if your video is well optimized for sites such as Youtube and you are being viewed by millions of people (You know what that means? Traffic).

If your article can be submitted to all your favorite social bookmarking sites, you can be guaranteed high rankings in search engines almost instantly.

A significant factor to consider is that not all social bookmarks will help you rank; not all will get indexed. Suppose a social bookmarking site needs to be more organized, and you need to become more familiar with the social bookmarking site. In that case, I will advise you to abandon the social bookmarking site.

Here are some quick tips on how to make your SMO efforts.

1. Integrate Social into your Website.

Integrated Social sharing tools to your site or add social media sharing buttons to individual blog posts; I like this one because, in most cases, it gives you organic social media sharing.

2. Adjust SEO keywords and Social Media

If you want to amplify the presentation of your social media profiles, keywords provide a substantial part. Structure your keywords and target phrases into your social profiles in a particular, non-malicious way. If you need to improve your patterns effectively, you're leaving cash on the table for your rivals.

3. Utilize Keywords in Your Posts

Keywords are vital for your site, blog material, and promotion campaigns, so everyone should know that keywords matter in your social content. This likewise helps keep your content relevant to your intended target audience.

4. Consistency is Key to SMO

Making your social profile appear straightforward is a principal area companies must catch up on. Social media tends to support profiles with finished data that is accessible. Round out the profile data 100%.

5. Be Social approaching Social Media

It's called SOCIAL media for an idea; social signals are an essential factor in SEO in the knowledge of the fact that web indexes take a gander at colonial flags and factor in how typically you're posting, what several individuals communicate with you, and if there are social sharing components accessible to site guests.

Proper and effective submission to just ten of the favorite social bookmarking sites can get your site indexed in less than 24 hours (it got mine indexed in less than 1 hour). It can even instantly make your Website rank for less competitive keywords (what a significant factor to consider).

If you can use social bookmarking sites effectively, your search engine ranking position/placement (SERP) will experience a significant spike. In contrast, social media sites like YouTube will help you experience a substantial increase in Traffic, making all other factors in SEO PART 3 additional (make sure you don't miss it).

NOTE: If your On-Page factor (SEO PART 1) is being done correctly, SEO PART 2 will keep you ahead of your competitors.

SEO Part 1- On-Page SEO Factors [Step by Step]

What is SEO?

SEO is a short form of Search Engine Optimization, and it is a significant factor to be considered by anybody who wants to make a fortune (as I call it) on the internet.

Quick Link

FIRST THINGS FIRST:

Some people who are just starting (newbies) an online business begin by blasting links to their website (the beginning of their online failure) without putting some things in place first, such as content, meta title and tags, proper keyword placement, and some other essential factors which if not done correctly can lead to the failure of a website. These factors would be considered individually to give you more knowledge about them.

CONTENT:

Does your website have materials? Is the content enough to make users return? Are you going about copying other people's content?

Before thinking about SEO, I would like you to think about content "which was ever before SEO was" (a fact). I want you to imagine how you would feel if, in your quest for knowledge or detailed information about a thing, you searched for info about that thing that bothered you in a search engine. The first result you landed on was that of a site without content. Doesn't that make you mad? Does it not cause you anger? I want you to consider it: This also happens to other people (your potential visitors).

Don't just think of copying some stupid garbage and rubbish from some articles or news sites that will keep your visitors coming; don't believe that just spinning other people's material will make sense to your visitors.

Let me tell you the truth: anything you do that doesn't take some or even much of your time will not bring much success (if any); if that article of yours does not take your time, if that article does not make you think (when writing it of course) then definitely it will not be of value to your visitors if that article does not change the way your visitors guess, then I don't think it is worth it. That is why it is said that out of every 100 people trying to make money online, only one succeeds.

Do you have what it takes to reach?

Do you have value? Yes, you do, but a lack of determination, seriousness, dedication, and belief in yourself makes you think you don't have value. Irrespective of the field, you are in the world. You can still provide value to the world, be it law, medicine, or art; just think about it: You can't impact the world if you don't know who you are (a question). You really need to give your visitors value (valuable content) that will make them come back again.

If you decide to ask or beg (God Forbid) for money on that website/blog you want traffic for, can your visitors give you a cent? Can your visitors give you $5? I want you to think about this. The secret to online success is valuable content. You can not get 1000 visitors to your website that doesn't have relevant content, but my question is, out of that 1000 visitors, how many visitors will return? Build your blog so that visitors will make a link to you even when you don't request it; build your blog so that a user will bring 10, 10 will bring 100, 100 will bring 1000 (viral marketing), and so on.

I understand how you feel about that content aspect of your blog, but the only thing that can make you write high-quality content is "belief in yourself"; believe you are highly valued.

You don't need to read all the books in this world to write quality content: It might be that joke, just write it; it can be that riddle, ask your visitors; it might be that sermon, tell it to them.

The necessary things to put in mind when writing content for your website or blog are:

  1. Be original
  2. Challenge your visitors. Don't abuse them
  3. Believe you are valuable. Thereby, your content
  4. Know you are writing for people and not search engines

If you do all the above and still need help getting that desired traffic, contact me through the form on the About page, and I will help you optimize your website (if all the above has been put into practice).

TITLE AND META TAGS:

Your original content is the human food (that keeps them coming back), but your article title and Meta tags are the search engine food.

Let me put you in the perspective of someone who does not know much about SEO (sorry if you do), so I won't ask you questions, but I will go straight to the point.

Optimize your Meta title (website title) to have your desired keywords that you want to rank for, e.g., if I want to list for blueberries, my title should be like this:

"Precious Blueberries - Reviews of the best Blueberries".

At least you will notice that the word blueberries appears twice in the title.

Optimize your Meta keywords and description to better describe the content of your website:

Meta Keyword:

Precious Blueberries, blueberries, beautiful blueberries, fresh blueberries e.t.c

Meta Description:

Give an excellent summary of your website here with the word blueberries: this is usually what your search engine visitors will see about your site/article in the search engines.

Robots.txt:

This is the most important factor because even if you have a million pages adequately linked to each other (the best way for search engines to easily crawl them all) and your robots.txt is blocking the search engines, none of your content will get indexed by the search engines.

An excellent way to know if your robots.txt is blocking search engines is by going to your website robots.txt page, e.g., https://www.stepstobecome.com/robots.txt (substituting https://www.stepstobecome.com with your own domain name of course).

If something like this is displayed:
User-Agent: *
Disallow: /

It is telling the search engines not to index your website homepage.

How do I solve this, you ask?
It is that simple; just go to your desktop and create a new text document (with Notepad), save it as robots.txt, and input the following exactly as it is:

User-Agent: *
Allow: /

Upload the saved robots.txt document to the root of your website (public_html on most Cpanel hosting), go to pneumatic (do a Google search on this), enter the required details, and then ping your blog (make sure you mark all services), this will notify the search engines of the change to your blog, wait for some few days and your blog will be indexed (A victory! Praise God)

If all the above has been done, then you should be OK with your blog being indexed again.

Proper keyword placement:

As we said with the Meta tags earlier, it is imperative to use your keywords correctly in your content (do not overdo this: It is called blackhat and can get your website penalized by the search engine you are optimizing for, e.g., Google). You have to do this in a way that your article still makes sense to your visitors (If it doesn't make sense to you, you are free to drop this aspect as it is optional, like the other ones listed above).

All the other ones listed above are what we call On-Page SEO, and they can get your site ranking higher (if appropriately done) without any links.

If you really enjoyed this article and want to comment, you can post on your blog or website (I enabled trackback) with a direct link to this post, as it will automatically show under the comment section of this post. You are also welcome to make a link to this particular pot or any other position of mine on your blog (not to worry, you will also benefit from this because I enabled trackbacks on this blog, and the trackbacks will automatically make a return link to your blog, site or any page from which this article is being linked to).
